Pallan Group and our business partners understand the importance of following sound forest management practices by adhering to the policies, procedures and regulations set forth by the province of British Columbia.
Pallan Group is proud to announce that in the spring of 2008 we attained chain-of-custody certification to two separate standards. Chain-of-custody certification is a mechanism used to track wood from a certified forest, providing a link between the certified forest and the certified product.
This certification allows us to provide our customers with environmentally certified products ensuring confidence that the products are coming from sustainably managed forests.
PEFC is the world's largest forest certification umbrella organization. A non-governmental organization founded in 1999, it supports sustainable forest management globally through assessment and endorsement of national forest certification schemes.
In British Columbia, PEFC endorses wood originating from forests certified to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standards. CSA and SFI certified forests represent the vast majority of certified forests on British Columbia's coast.
The Forest Stewardship Council is an international non-profit organization that supports environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management.
In October 2007, British Columbia had 577,295 hectares (about 1.4 million acres) certified to FSC. FSC chain-of-custody allows us to trade in FSC certified wood products which are highly sought after in today's global marketplace.
